Powder Lift: Built for Korean, Glueless, and Hybrid Lash Lifting

Powder Lift is a viscosity controller designed to support Korean lash lifting, regular glueless lifting, and the hybrid technique by changing how your lotions behave during the service.

It’s mixed into Step 1 and/or Step 2 to create a tacky, grippy viscosity so the lotion itself can hold lashes against the shield, replacing the need for separate traditional liquid or balm glue.

You can also use the powder for tinting and Step 3 if any lashes want to pop off the shield before they are supposed to.

What Powder Lift Does in Practical Terms

Mix Powder Lift into your lash lift lotions to add:

  • More grip: for glue-free lash wrapping on the shield.
  • More structure: higher viscosity reduces the risk of lotions seeping into the eyes. Especially recommended to sensitive/teary clients.
  • More control: helps you work faster because you’re not doing the classic lash wrapping in the beginning of the treatment, before lifting lotion has softened the disulfide bonds.

It also adds nourishing, hydrating, and strengthening support to treatments when used in the recommended range.

The 3 Ways to Use Powder Lift

Cysteamine Lash Lift & Powder Lift

1. Korean Lash Lifting

For Korean lifting, mix the powder into lifting lotion to make it tacky enough for the lotion to hold the lashes in place, without traditional liquid/balm glue.

Mix ~30–50% Powder Lift thoroughly, then leave it for ~20 seconds to thicken. The goal is a tacky, grippy viscosity so the lifting lotion itself holds lashes firmly against the shield.

Important: Don’t use >50% Powder Lift, because excessive powder slows the efficiency of the lifting lotion and can lead to longer processing times. Add the powder gradually, and if you over-thicken the mix, thin it back down by adding more lotion. Thinner/weaker lashes require less powder and thicker/coarser lashes require more.

Step 2 (fixing lotion): You only need to mix ~20% Powder Lift into Step 2 to make it tacky enough to hold lashes in place because lashes should be so soft after Step 1 that they stay on the shield without any product at all.

Before applying fixing lotion, lashes should always be checked for a snug hug on the shield and if anything has become loose after lifting lotion, it needs to be tightened on the shield + their direction corrected before applying fixing lotion. Failing to do so will result in a weakened/uneven lash lift.

With the powder, you can adjust them and apply the powder/lotion onto the lashes at the same time. This will save you time without cutting corners.

2. Regular glueless lash lifting

The only difference between Korean lifting and regular glueless lash lamination is that Korean lifting includes changing the silicone shields after Step 1, while regular glueless lifting stays on the same shield.

Other than that, use the powder the exact same way for regular glueless lifting: mix ~30–50% Powder Lift into the lifting lotion until it becomes tacky and grippy, but do not use 50% or more. Use ~20% Powder Lift for Step 2.

3. Hybrid technique

Hybrid technique means you start the lash lift in a traditional way: you wrap lashes onto the shield with glue at the beginning. Then, from Step 2, you switch to a glueless method by mixing Powder Lift into the fixing lotion so it becomes tacky enough to hold lashes in place without glue and allows you to tighten lashes on the shield and to correct their direction at the same time as applying the fixing lotion. This enables you to work faster.

Lashes should be completely softened by this stage so you only need about ~20% of powder to keep them in place.

Tips for best performance

  1. Dispense the lotion onto a palette or other surface of preference
  2. Add Powder Lift in small increments. Start from 30%
  3. Mix until fully smooth (no dry pockets)
  4. Wait ~20 seconds for full thickening (especially with Step 1)

Adjust, if needed:

  1. too runny = add a little more powder
  2. too thick = add a little more lotion

Target texture: tacky, stable, and controllable. Not cement. NB! Do not use >50% of powder to avoid extending processing times.

Common Questions Lash Artists Ask About Viscosity Controllers

“Will Powder Lift change processing times?”

Only, if you overdo the powder. Cap it at 50% and your processing times stay the same or even become a bit shorter compared to traditional lash lifting.

“Does it dilute Step 1 or make it weaker?”

It doesn’t, as long as you use it correctly. Processing times can become longer only if too much powder is mixed into the lotions.

“Why does the mix become clumpy/uneven?”

This happens due to a mixing issue:

  • adding too much powder at once
  • not mixing thoroughly enough
  • not giving it a moment to fully thicken. Give it at least 20 seconds

“My mix is thick but lashes still won’t stick on the silicone shield”

One of these can cause this:

  • not enough tack (powder ratio too low for that lash type) -> add more powder to the mix
  • lotion/powder mix application is too thin where you need grip -> add more lotion/powder mix to make lashes stay put

Fix: increase gradually within the safe range.

What is Powder Lift made of?

Primary functional ingredients (handling + structure)

  • Corn Starch: thickens the lotion.
  • PVP (Polyvinylpyrrolidone): forms a thin film to improve adhesion so the lotion “grips” lashes & the shield better.
  • Mica: improves texture + adds a violet shimmer.
  • Hydroxyethyl Acrylate / Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer: a texture/structure polymer that helps stabilize the mix.

Conditioning / supporting ingredients

  • Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1: supports lash strength/conditioning.
  • Panthenol: conditions and helps prevent dryness.
  • Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E): nourishing/skin-supportive antioxidant.
  • Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil: softens and conditions, supports elasticity.
  • Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil: moisture support and softening.
  • Glycerin: humectant that draws moisture and helps maintain hydration.

Collaboration + launch story

Powder Lift is a collaboration product between RuthieBelle and LashMother Uli that we launched at LashBoss Summit in 2024.

Made in the EU + How the Lavender Color Comes in Handy

Powder Lift is manufactured in the European Union (Italy), making it one of the very few viscosity controllers produced in the EU.

I intentionally added the lavender color to the formula:

  • It adds a clean color pop in social media content.
  • It’s also a teaching tool: educators can spot whether a student used the correct amount by looking at the color of the mix. More powder = a more purple mix.
