Hi, I’m Malaena…I’ve lived the pain that so many Beauty Professionals are feeling every single day. I tried to stuff it down with the – pop a few Advil and ignore it attitude – but my body wouldn’t stop screaming at me to make a change. One day I woke up and couldn’t move my head in any direction. My body was done and so was my career. Can you relate to having aches and pains, or wondering how you can continue 10 years from now?
I know better than anyone what you are going through, and it really doesn’t have to be that way. If I just knew “why” it was important to take care of my body, and “how” from the very beginning, I could have saved myself thousands of dollars and hours and hours of unnecessary pain. I’ve since become a Certified Ergonomics Specialist and Fascia Trainer and I’m ready to pass on everything I’ve learned to you.
Let’s talk about why Yoga and stretching is just not enough to keep you out of pain as a Lash Professional…
When you think of an orange…each of the wedges and even the tiny pulp pieces are all individually covered with a thin layer. This “layer” keeps all the juice of the orange structured and holds it in place.
Fascia is connective tissue that surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fiber and muscle in place. It not only provides internal structure; but fascia has nerves that make it almost as sensitive as skin.
It’s designed to stretch as you move. But there are certain things that cause fascia to thicken and become sticky so fascia tightens up. When it dries up and tightens around muscles, it can limit mobility and cause painful knots.
Lash Artist’s movements are minimal and repetitive, so you will train your fascia to move only certain ways and it will eventually become weak and stiff. This can start you down the path of pain and potentially awful things like herniated disks, or pinched nerves etc. Tight bound up fascia can even move bones, which means going to a chiropractor once every week or two won’t fix the problem.
Just stretching is not going to release your fascia. You also need pressure to actually change fascia’s structure.
I wanted to create a place where Lash Artists could go for help, answers, and customized support for ALL of the issues like:
Something I wish so badly that I had when I first started.
I created Lash Happy – an online mini course that teaches:
There are seven experts like myself – Malaena – a certified ergonomics specialist and certified fascia trainer, a personal trainer, an integrative health practitioner, a physical therapist, a chiropractor, a mental health family counselor, and an ophthalmologist. And then Ruthie Belle as a cyanoacrylate specialist.
They all helped to make the Lash Happy cover all different body parts with a bonus section for mental health and mindfulness. There are fascia stretches, ergonomic tips, the best tools and resources available, and a few discounts.
The Juicy Roll is a targeted deep tissue massage + lymph drainage you can do at home.
It is harder and smaller than a foam roller. The shape and size allows you to reach every part of your fascia, and the density is actually able to change the structure of it.
Just like an orange, when you roll it on a counter with slow pressure and it gets juicier, your fascia will do the same with the Juicy Roll. Here are some of the benefits of the Juicy Roll:
Here is a sample exercise by Malaena to help with a frozen shoulder or rotator cuff injury:
